Use this mulch material list to organize bed measurements and avoid under-ordering for a landscape refresh.
Bed measurements
- Length and width by bed section
- Target depth in inches
- Cubic feet, cubic yards, and bag count
Materials
- Mulch type and color
- Edging, landscape fabric, staples, or pins
- Gloves, rake, wheelbarrow, and cleanup bags
Placement notes
- Keep mulch away from trunks, stems, and siding
- Thin or remove old mulch if the bed is already deep
- Plan delivery location for bulk mulch
Planning notes
- Bulk mulch can be cheaper for larger projects, but delivery fees matter.
- Mulch settles, so the visible depth may change after weather.
